1. A movie that is written, produced and/or directed by
someone black.

2. A movie about the black experience even if it not written,
produced and/or directed by someone black.
"The Color Purple" (Steven Speilberg), "The Hurricane" (Norman

3. A movie with a black person in the lead role. "Beverly Hills
Cop" (Eddie Murphy), "I Am Legend" (Will Smith), "Blazing
Saddles" (Cleavon Little)
The Black Movie Hall of Fame chronicles the history of black film. It's a
comprehensive look at the outstanding achievements blacks have made to
the cinematic arts in every genre. The hall of fame also recognizes and
ranks the greatest black films of all time in several different categories.
