SHAWN EDWARDS SAYS:
(Top) Heath Ledger as The Joker. (Bottom)
Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman.
ago. The sequel, the best overall since “The Empire Strikes Back,” is so damn gully it’s straight up
gangsta. Yes, “The Dark Knight” is a rated PG-13 hardcore gangster flick masquerading as a comic
book movie. “The Dark Knight” fits nicely alongside “Goodfellas” and “The Untouchables.” It’s a dark
and moody film that examines the ills of man and a society spiraling into decay. Call it an ultra urban
Shakespearian experience that takes place down a rabbit hole that has yet to be explored.
Most of the cast members from the first flick have returned. Christian Bale is back and superb as
billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne/ the Bat man. Michael Cain (can this guy do no wrong?) returns as
Alfred the overly loyal butler. Gary Oldham is on point again as Lt. James Gordon, the man with the
moral center. And my man Morgan Freeman, solid as ever, is still in the mix as weapons expert and
head of Wayne enterprises. However, it’s the newbies that make “The Dark Knight” a rock ‘em, sock
‘em must see movie.

Aaron Eckhart plays Harvey Dent with a smirk and smarts. And I’ll take Maggie Gyllenhall any day over
Katie Holmes who she replaced as Wayne’s love interest. But it’s Heath Ledger as The Joker who
knocks the ball out of the park like Barry Bonds on steroids. His performance as The Joker in “The
Dark Knight” makes Jack Nicholson’s version in “Batman” back in the day seem like Ronald
McDonald.

Give Ledger the freakin’ Oscar right now! He’s just “sick wit it” as he delivers the performance of a
lifetime. His portrayal of the Joker is as brilliant as it is scary. Ledger leaps of the screen straight into
your face leaving you breathless, haunted and totally entertained. Hell I couldn’t sleep for a couple of
nights, and I’m not scared of *#@*! I’m not over selling here. I got Heath’s version of The Joker in the
Badass Hall of Fame right up there with Hannibal Lecter, Darth Vader, Alonzo from “Training Day” and
Jules Winnfield from “Pulp Fiction.”

Directed by Christopher Nolan, “The Dark Knight” is a classic tale of good versus evil. It’s an eerie
reminder of 9/11. An unflinching reminder of the importance of law and order. A trip to the dark side of
the force remixed for the iPod generation. Yes, it's a comic book movie but it’s also a disturbing
masterpiece.
1. The Dark Knight (2008)
2. Blade (1998)
3. Iron Man (2008)
4. Spider-Man 2 (2004)
5. Superman (1978)
5 BEST COMIC BOOK MOVIES (EVER)
There is something rotten happening in Gotham
City, but it's the best cinematic experience so far
this year. “The Dark Knight” is simply dope and will
be a strong contender for best movie of the year. It’s
the best Batman movie by far and may be the best
comic book movie ever made. Sorry “Iron Man.”
Sorry “Blade.” Sorry  “Spiderman 2.” It really is all
about “The Dark Knight.”
