THE WORLD ACCORDING TO SHAWN EDWARDS
- My inspiration is my mother.
- My favorite film of all-time? That's an impossible question to answer. Maybe
"Star Wars."
- When I'm feeling grimy I watch "City of God."
- When I need a giggle I watch "Uptown Saturday Night" or "Coming to
America."
- When I'm feeling romantic I watch "Claudine."
- "The Matrix" is the best sci-fi flick ever.
- Spike Lee's "25th Hour" may be the most underrated film in the history of
cinema.
- I love Cameron Crowe's version of "Vanilla Sky" starring Tom Cruise.
- "The Wizard of Oz" is my favorite film from my childhood.
- "Do the Right Thing" had more of impact on me as a black male than any
film I've ever seen.
- My favorite book of all-time is Toni Morrison's "Song of Solomon" and I hope
Oprah, who owns the rights, never tries to adapt it into a film!
- My favorite TV show of all-time is HBO's "The Wire." It's gangsta, gangsta fo'
real and the most realistic portrayal of life in the urban sprawls of America
ever on television (or on film).
- My favorite album of all-time is Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On." Simply a
lyrical and musical masterpiece.
- The material object I most cherish are my dark sunglasses. I also can't live
without my iPod and True Religion Jeans.
- My proudest moment was winning the Pine Wood Derby when I was a Cub
Scout.
- My proudest achievement was co-founding the African American Film Critics
Association.
- My biggest disappointment was never keeping in touch with my first
girlfriend Stephanie Austin from Dayton, Ohio. Long story...
- My biggest mistake was not graduating from Morehouse College. (No
disrespect to the University of Missouri - Kansas City where I eventually
received my degree.)
- I'm not a fussy person but I am a perfectionist and do enjoy a good party and
love wearing an expensive well-tailored suit on occasions.
- Red Bull is the beverage of my choice. It doesn't boost my energy but it does
taste great especially when you mix it with tequila.
- Princeton, New Jersey is the coolest city in the world.
- Flying is the best way to travel. It gives me time to think and write and no one
can reach me. After I land and turn on my celly, it's another story.
- I'm a news junkie and an avid reader, so I typically start my day by reading
whatever newspaper and magazines I can get my hands on.
- My favorite hotel in the world is the Four Seasons in Los Angeles, it's my
second home and the best place in LA to have random encounters with the
entertainment world's elite. Sorry, but I don't name drop.
